Hi Everyone, hope you are all keeping well and healthy.
As you are all too aware, it has not been possible to have Yoga indoors over the past months and we have all missed our community and regular practice.
I have endeavoured to provide a variety of classes and events throughout this time, both online and outdoors, from daily Chair Yoga, Om Chanting, Yoga Nidra and of course our weekly classes in Salthill and Fairlands Parks.
It has been a great learning experience and hasĀ also been a great way to meet new people and introduce them to the benefits of a Yoga practice…our community has really expanded.
You may have noticed over the past couple of weeks that Yoga Studios are beginning to open and are offering classes, adhering to current HSE Guidelines/Protocols etc. As we now know from experience, these Guidelines are updated and changed regularly as new information becomes available, the wearing of masks being the best example. The motivation for studio owners and teachers to bring people back indoors is not for me to comment on, but from my own conversations with students and friends, there hasn’t been a desire to return to indoor, studio based classes yet.
For me, my Yoga teaching has always been about the promotion of health, both in body and mind and these are part of the main 5 pillars of the Sivananda Yoga practice. In the current circumstance, I am not comfortable that I can guarantee that my students or myself can safely practice in enclosed and generally poorly ventilated spaces for one hour plus. We also can’t be sure as to the contacts that others in the class have had and whether their work or lifestyle will put us or our families at risk. The transmission/infection figures are still very unstable and I would like to be more confident that our system has more control before making a decision to return to studio based classes.
All this being said, I will keep you all up to date with my thoughts and feelings about getting back indoors for the Autumn/Winter in the healthiest and safest way possible..for us, our families and our communities.
Hari Om Tat Sat
Namaste
